Dia de Los Muertos, or in English 'The Day of the Dead' celebration is coming up this weekend, starting Nov 1st. Mexico's most famous national holiday, festive and colorful, a true celebration of life.

The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray and remember loved ones who have passed on. Families make altars and place offerings and often a photo is placed on the altar, along with favorite foods, drinks and possessions.

Xcaret Eco Park hosts a 4 day extravaganza with dancers, shamans, workshops and lots, lots, more. It's the place to be, full of interesting shows to experience and plenty of food to try including stands selling 'Pan de Muertos', a traditional sweet bread and vendors selling salbutes, tamales, pibils and empanadas. If you are planning on being in the area it's a must see.

There are performance pavilions with everything ranging from story telling, to ballet, to traditional music. With 40 plus shows there is sure to be something cool and interesting for the whole family.
