Villa Gauguin

To start off, booking directly through Akumal Villas was the best decision I've ever made when it comes to booking accommodations. Not only was the price better, the overall experience and communication with the entire team was outstanding. Martina was happy to answer all my questions (and I had many lol) and made the booking experience flawless. Maria helped me organize all transportation and chef services so easily and having someone who is familiar with the area and the companies to use is so helpful when you're travelling to a place you're not too familiar with. The booking process was literally easier than booking an all-inclusive and much much more personalized. I will probably never go to an all-inclusive ever again after this experience. Not only is booking a villa like this much more cost effective with the right amount of people, but you're treated like royalty and I never felt like I was bothering anyone. ALBERTO AND SYNTHIA - I cannot thank you enough for all your help and work. They were both so kind and kept the villa clean and tidy every day. What shocked me the most was how fast and efficient they were. Sometimes I didn't even see them and suddenly the pool was cleaned, the backyard was reset, kitchen reset and tidy and the bedrooms all done. That would personally take me a week to accomplish lol. Alberto even drove us into town to get groceries and a few extra things we forgot which was amazing since Taxis can be very expensive in the area. They never made me feel like they expected a tip for all the little extra things they did, they always did it with a smile which again, can be rare on resorts or other areas in Tulum/Cancun. This makes giving gratuity feel sooo much more authentic and nice. YOU MUST GET THE CHEF SERVICE!! Chef Adriana and her team gave us a dining experience twice a day better than any experience I have had back home in Toronto. I originally had meals I requested for brunch/dinner and after the first meal I said just cook/serve whatever you want because they knew much more than I did and it was the best Mexican culinary experience I've had. They even made fresh juices every day!! Snorkelling right off the rocks in the backyard was one of the best snorkelling I've done in the world, and I've scuba dived everywhere from Thailand to the Great Barrier Reef. The water seems to be protected from the cove and lagoon so it was always pretty calm. I cannot wait to return!

We loved Villa Gauguin! The location is stunning and the pictures of this place don’t do it justice. It comes with two house caretakers, Cinthia and Alberto, who are so sweet and take care of everything from cleaning, maintenance and helping you with bags. We hired a chef for the duration of our stay, which I highly recommend doing as well.

The place is immaculate. Great little village with excellent property managers.
This is the place to get away from all the noise and enjoy amazing views while relaxing in the zero edge pool or snorkeling in the lagoon just steps away. I highly recommend going to Akumal!

Villa Gauguin was amazing. The views were spectacular, the bedrooms lovely, the pool area wonderful for lounging and reading. Alberto and Cynthia attended to our every need (and made exceptional breakfasts!) and management was also very responsive and helpful. We were only 5 people so the house felt huge. Very comfortably could have accommodated more. The house was kept spotless, the kitchen is clean and attractive. Beds were comfortable. And again, the views -- from every room. The house is striking and tastefully designed. We hope to return!

Cynthia & Alberto were so attentive to anything we needed. They are wonderful people. We almost didn’t know they were there. We’d go outside to have coffee, go back inside & they had our beds made & rooms cleaned. They made us great meals too! Great couple.

What a wonderful experience we had here at Villa Gauguin. The Villa is magnificent-serene peaceful and beautiful. The staff looked after us every minute and cared for our every need. We are grateful to have such an experience in such a beautiful place. The Yalku Lagoon was spectacular, we swam, we snorkelled, we ate delicious food and drinks. We rented golf carts and bicycles and had an amazing time exploring the Akumal area. Great Staff & great villa. Superb!!

We had a good time at Villa Gaugin. The staff was great and kept the place very clean. It is a convenient location and has stunning views. The pool was great as was the access to the denote. Our only complaint is the lack of working A/C in the main living area. The property contact said it wasn't working and that was listed in the description -but that's not true, it was not explicitly stated that way. It was over 90 degrees every day we were there so I can't believe they wouldn't repair it - it made that portion of the house unlivable during the day and required all of the other units to be running all of the time. This impacted our stay. The rest of the home was great and well kept and maintained with nice furniture and amenities. I would recommend if the AC was repaired.

Our family of 6 adults and 6 children had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. Alberto and Cynthia took great care of us. It was a nice surprise to have a visit from Rhett and get some very helpful information. All our interactions via e-mail were so prompt and helpful. I loved to swim in the pool and look out at the ocean - so relaxing. We had fun with a rented golf cart, driving in to town. And it was so nice to be within a two minute walk to Yal ku lagoon.

I have been coming to Akumal for over 15 years and this is now my absolute favorite villa. The home itself was stunning and the views were amazing. The caretakers (Alberto and Cynthia) were so incredibly kind and helpful. The kitchen was well stocked and the décor and furniture in the home was beautiful and comfortable. My only regret is that we were unable to access yal-ku lagoon directly from the property due to the rough water conditions. I can't wait to come back to this property again!
