Akumal Sunrise is the roomy ground floor of a two-story villa, with 2,500 square feet of living space and 40 feet of shaded terrace and an incredible infinity rooftop pool looking out on the Caribbean.

The villa offers two bedrooms, each with a king-size bed. The master bedroom has glass doors that open right up onto the terrace and beach and offers a delightful view of the ocean. The guest bedroom has a lovely garden view and shares a bathroom with the entertainment area. Here you'll find satellite TV, along with two single beds. A pair of bamboo blinds can separate this space from the living room, making it ideal for children.

Step outside into the warmth of the Caribbean sun and see why Akumal is the jewel of the Mayan Riviera. Just a few steps across the white sand beach lie the turquoise waters of the bay, protected by a double barrier reef just 100 yards offshore. Spectacular coral formations and exotically colored and patterned fish await you as you snorkel the calm, clear water. Back on the beach enjoy the shade under a thatched palapa roof or relax with a margarita in a hammock beneath the palms. Kayaks are available for exploring the bay. Villa Akumal Sunrise even has a beachfront shower to rinse off in.

Back inside you will appreciate this vacation villa's central air conditioning, high ceilings and cool white rattan furniture. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and boasts a breakfast bar with bar stools. The dining table seats up to six guests. Villa Akumal Sunrise offers a gardener and daily maid service.

Your South Akumal vacation villa is located in a gated residential community that is tranquil and private. A quick drive two miles north or a more leisurely beach walk brings you to the village of Akumal, with its restaurants, bars, sailing, diving, fishing and other activities. Akumal, Mexico is in the heart of the Mayan Riviera, making it the perfect location from which to explore the numerous cenotes, Mayan ruins, caves and other attractions the coast offers.

Our first Yucatan holiday was a delightful four weeks at Casa Sunrise in Akumal Sur.We were charmed by the sea, the view, and our gracious host, Thierry.Thierry’s introduction to things, places to see, and places to dine were invaluable in making our vacation special.Among these were our excursion to Tulum beach and lunch at Anna y Jose’s, a most pleasant experience.Visiting the ruins in Tulum and Coba, the caves at Aktun Chen, “floating” in the Sian Ka’an, snorkeling in our front “yard” and at Yal Ku are just a few of the memories we will cherish until we return.As we leave, we take the memory of beautiful sunrises and pelicans and gulls fishing in our front “yard”.And, we thank Thierry for sharing his beautiful Casa Sunrise with us.

We were nervous about coming at the beginning of the rainy season but the weather was lovely.And although we had intended to explore the area, we were so happy and content here at Akumal Sunrise with the snorkeling and hammocks that we hardly went anywhere else.How we hate to leave such a beautiful and relaxing place.But at least we have the sound of the ocean and our tans to take back with us.
