Open Water Diving
Just off the shores of the Riviera Maya lies the world's largest coral reef in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest barrier reef in the world. Known as the Mesoamerican Reef, it runs from Cancun all the way to Honduras. Water temperatures range between 84 degrees F in the summer to 78 degrees F in the winter months and visibility ranges between 50 to 150 feet. All of these factors mean the Riviera Maya is a premier dive location, perfect for beginners and advanced divers.

SCUBA Day Trips *
COZUMEL offers some of the most fantastic diving in the world and many different dive locations. A day trip includes roundtrip transportation from Akumal, 2 tanks, weights and belt. 4 diver minimum and advance reservation required. $140USD per person.
A trip to PUERTO MORELOS offers a spectacular wreck dive and a second reef dive. Includes roundtrip transportation from Akumal, 2 tanks, weights and belt. 4 diver minimum and advance reservation required. $150USD per person.
Dive Courses *
BUBBLEMAKER is a fun program designed for children ages 8 to 9 years old. Under the careful instruction and supervision of a PADI instructor, children explore scuba equipment and underwater breathing in beautiful Akumal Bay. $68USD
The RESORT COURSE is the fastest, easiest and safest way for the beginning diver to discover the underwater world of diving. The 3 hour program includes full equipment, pool sessions where you can gain confidence using PADI skills, after which you will enjoy a beautiful dive on our reef at a maximum depth of 35 feet. The Resort Course is a great way to experience scuba diving and we will credit the instruction toward the PADI certification if you decide to become a certified diver. This designation will allow you to dive under supervision for 15 days in our diving center. Must be 10 year or older. $103USD
The OPEN WATER COURSE is the full training which allows you to plan a dive and to dive without professional supervision. It takes 3½ days and includes full equipment, pool sessions and four ocean dives under the supervision of a PADI Instructor. $450USD + $38 workbook.
The REFERRAL COURSE is the 4 Open Water dives required in your certification. Do your pool and classroom study at home and enjoy your open water dives on vacation! Akumal is the perfect location to continue in your instruction by boat, from shore or in a refreshing cenote. This course takes 2 days and includes full equipment and 4 open water dives under the supervision of a PADI Instructor.

Cave and Cavern Diving
Unique to the Yucatan Peninsula is the underground river system that brings cave and cavern divers to the Riviera Maya from all over the world. This is where the Imax film, Journey Into Amazing Caves, filmed their search in underwater cave passages for microorganisms living in the shimmering halocline: where the freshwater that flows beneath the jungle meets the ocean saltwater.
The Akumal area is home to a series of cenotes considered to be the best: Dos Ojos, Taj Mahal, Chac Mool, Ponderosa and Gran Cenote. Every one of them displays different characteristics and a different dive experience. A professional diving instructor will accompany you to discover this magical and mysterious underworld, where lovers of this sport will be encircled by this unusual and spectacular environment!
