We rented Villa Marcarbe for a week in July 2016. We frequently rent homes for family vacations and this turned out to be one of the best. When your group has 7 adults and 5 children (12,11,9,3,1) you can't just rent a small home. I must say I did a lot of research and it paid off.
The house is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. The caretakers Amalia and Santos did a great job keeping the beach, the house and swimming pool clean. They were almost invisible until you needed something.
We used the chef service for 6 days and it was worth every bit of the cost. The chefs Miguel and Guillermo were awesome. They even fixed food our finicky kids liked. Start the day with coffee, bacon, eggs, french toast and real fresh squeezed orange juice. Lunch was light and good. Dinner was an anticipated affair. Fresh fish and ceviche were big hits. No one washed a dish. I also hired a bartender who started at noon. Jaime, the bartender was always there with margaritas etc. on the beach or beside the pool. It was great.
Everyone enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling. Soliman Bay has virtually no waves and doesn't have any rocks on the beach.
The pool and the Gulf seem to keep everyone busy. This is an isolated pearl so be prepared for the mile of bumpy dirt road to get there. If the shopping and night life of Cancun are your thing, this is not your place. If relaxing, sleeping in, reading and not having a schedule suits you then Marcarbe will let you do that.
AkumalVillas.com was helpful and knowledgeable. Maria and Martina even helped me get a good deal on a rent car.
Since one of their offices is in Dallas, I was more comfortable sending my deposit. They are a first class operation.
I would certainly recommend this property.

We rented the Villa so that we
could have a location to stay for the week AND have our wedding there. It was a
dream!! Even better than we anticipated it would be. The Villa is beautiful and
is private... just what we hoped. There was more than enough space for the 12
adults that stayed. We enjoyed snorkeling off the beach as well. Elena &
Pancho were excellent caretakers, made wonderful meals were very helpful &
friendly in assiting us with getting taxi's and such. It was a perfect location
for our wedding and we located the wedding planner that we used through the
Akumal Villas website. I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants to
get away from the all inclusive resorts! I think this is our best vacation in
Mexico yet... and we have been there numerous times. Thank you Akumal Villas!

My family of 10 ranging in ages from 26 to 76 rented both sides of Villa
MarCaribe for 4 nights. With 6 bedrooms and 6+ bathrooms, we were all afforded
our own privacy, as well as, many common gathering areas. We tended to gather
in the kitchen and living room on one side or on the large patios by the pool.
This villa has air conditioned bedrooms and large windows and fans in the
common areas to allow the sea breezes throughout the downstairs. We were
greeted by the onsite caretakers, Elena and Pancho, who brought us delicious
margaritas when we arrived. In the mornings we hiked around the ruins of Tulum,
Coba, and Muyil.
Our afternoons were spent shopping in Tulum, and snorkeling and kayaking
in Soliman Bay, and then relaxing around the beautiful beachside pool or
swinging in the hammocks under the beach palapas. One afternoon we went north
to Akumal Bay (Turtle Bay) to check out the turtles in the bay. We were
delighted with all of the sea life there! An afternoon downpour didn't deter us
from having a fantastic time! Each evening we chose to use the large BBQ grill
for our dinners. We shopped in Tulum at the Bodega which is actually a WalMart.
The prices there were cheaper than at the San Francisco grocery store. Due to
the make-up of our family, we didn't have Elena cook for our family. We really
wanted to, but we have a lot of picky eaters and getting together one menu to
appease everyone would have been impossible!!! Each of the kitchens both had plenty
of dishes, glasses, silverware, etc. for us to cook, prepare, and store our
meals in. We did eat out at Oscar Y Lalo's and really can't recommend it. It
had extremely high prices and the majority of my family didn't like their
dishes. They did like eating lunch at Urge Taquito in Tulum. They absolutely
loved the fish tacos. A word of warning though....their meats are all breaded
and fried, but they were delicious. The villa has 2 kayaks with backrests, 1
without, and 2 paddle boats. The paddle boats were tried, but parked after a
quick spin, too much work for a vacation!!! The villa has a large supply of
life jackets and fins. We didn't see any masks. The coastline is covered with
seashells so seashell hunting is a must! The bay is gorgeous on sunny days.
Unfortunately we had a couple of rainy days, but we didn't let the rain stop us
from snorkeling in the bay. All in all, this home was an awesome vacation
rental. I couldn't be more pleased and would love to return.

What a beautiful home you have! We are so grateful you allow us to spend
time here! My husband Steve and I came with our 2 teenage daughters and their
friends, and no one wants to go back home. Unfortunately we did not have
Francisco and Alicia cook. Too much running around, but they are none the less
wonderful. The peacefulness and beauty of this wonderful place was exactly what
we needed.
The Van Deggelens
Our family of 5 plus a family friend had a wonderful 10 days stay at
your beautiful villa! We had Francisco cook 7 nights out of ten and loved every
meal and had Chili Rellenos twice! Also enjoyed the fajitas, enchiladas, shrimp
with garlic butter, filet de pescado, and Poc Chuc. He and Alicia made our
visit wonderful and our oldest son enjoyed visiting with them in Spanish every
night.
We enjoyed the beaches at Akumal, El Paraiso, La Vita Bella, &} La
Zebra beach clubs for lunch and the afternoon. We had lunch at Zamas one day
and ate at Lol Ha in Akumal twice, plus La Buena Vida. My husband enjoyed
breakfast at Blue Sky. We decided to see Coba and climbed the big pyramid plus
the cenote this visit. We enjoyed a visit at Xcaret beach (no chairs and take a
cooler
