Villa Encantada
(except Christmas and New Years) or wait for the slideshow to load below Arranged on three levels amid a lush tropical landscape, Villa Encantada sits directly on its own palm fringed Caribbean beach. This architect designed home, owned by a renowned painter and sculptor, is a sculpture in itself, expressing the dynamic interplay between curved and planar forms. The focus of the villa is a four level circular tower, penetrated through its center by a shaft of light. The artistic attention to detail expressed throughout this villa is truly unique. Upon arrival, stroll through a garden paradise of orchids, palm trees and tropical foliage and flowers. Open a romantic, hand-forged, iron entrance gate and enter a dramatic space of gleaming marble floors which flow throughout the house. A circular dining room steps down into an elegant sunken living room with 11 foot ceilings. Floor to ceiling glass doors look out to palms, flowers and the turquoise sea beyond. Furnishings are of exquisite hand carved woods from Indonesia, China, Mexico & Africa and are complemented by fine fabrics. The fully equipped kitchen opens out to a terrace. It features marble counters, custom cabinetry with handcast pewter hardware, and has both indoor and outdoor bars. The bedroom on this level has its own full bath with a curving sculptural marble shower as well as glass doors to its own terrace, all opening to the beach view and breeze. The upper level also has gleaming marble floors throughout. The luxurious master bedroom suite has a large private terrace and breathtaking views of the sea and the garden. The spacious master bath includes expansive marble counters with double sinks and a 5' round shower with glass doors opening to the ocean view and breeze. The second bedroom on this level also opens to its own terrace through glass doors and offers a spectacular ocean view. Its adjoining private marble bathroom also has views from its matching 5' round shower. A circular library connects these two bedrooms to the roof terrace above. It features a curving cantilevered marble desk and glass top table. The lower level (partially below grade) contains the fourth bedroom with full bath and a playroom. The bedroom has two twin beds which can be combined to make a king. Windows on this level do not provide a view but it is the perfect place for teenagers and children to have their own space. This villa offers exceptional and unusual outdoor living, second to none. The pool and garden facing the turquoise Caribbean is always refreshed by delightful tropical breezes. Hammocks sway between the palm trees, resplendent with coconuts and whispering palm fronds. The sumptuous palapa-roofed lounging pavilion provides sun sheltered comfort for all with plush cushions for socializing, reading, napping or just decadent relaxation. The deep shade and constant sea breezes keep you in total comfort while relaxing by the pool. Sun worshippers can bask on comfortable lounge chairs poolside and children can frolic in the pool, just steps away. A spacious, outdoor dining terrace under a charming, naturalistic pergola, fashioned by local craftsmen, invites you into dappled shade by day and romantic lighting for evening dining. At Villa Encantada you will awaken daily to the caress of the rising sun over the sea and the song of tropical birds rejoicing in the new day. At the day's end, you will retire to the exquisite sunsets over the vast, endless jungle from your private, circular, rooftop palapa-covered terrace which offers a 360 degree view of the jungle as well as the peaceful moon's reflection in the sea bidding you good night and sweet dreams. Complimentary / Main Features Indoor Features Outdoor Features Recommended Services Bill & Debbie Blythewood, SC We have 4 teenagers and usually stay in high-end all-inclusive. Last year our entire vacation, in Jamaica, was rained out! We were afraid that they would be bored, but we ran out of time rather than things to do! Everyone said they would not only like to go back to Akumal, but they would even stay in the same villa! Thank you so much!!! Ellen, Liz, Nicole and Sally Maine, TX, CA amd Pennsylvania We are here celebrating our 40th birthdays together, since our graduation from Dickinson College we have remained close friends. We live in Maine, Dallas, San Francisco and Pennsylvania, so we traveled distances to visit one another. Encantada was the PERFECT location to share time, memories, and lots of laughter. Elio, Julia and Roger were welcoming and helpful. The house and grounds are absolutely beautiful. We loved the many places to sit and chat, read or nap; every spot had an ocean view and breeze. The decor, all of Morris’s paintings, etc. are incredible. This was a true pleasure - we are already planning our next visit... we might even bring our husbands. Thank you for sharing your lovely home! The Shelton Family Denver, CO Now that you know who we are, please know that we could not have had a better time! Our family made memories that will last a lifetime!! Your house and ground are just beautiful! We spent more time under the comfy palapa than we did anywhere else. We never tired of breathing in the beautiful sunrise and sunsets... Beautiful Casa Encantada is a work of art, not only for the eyes but for the soul. We enjoyed your home immensely. Thank you for sharing... With warmest regards. The O'Connor Family Woodstock, NY What a beautiful spot and gorgeous house. We had such a great time, so much to do yet so relaxing, the kids loved making friends with the iguanas, hermit crabs and eating breakfast on the patio. We loved diving, snorkeling, visiting ruins (Tulum and Coba) and swimming with the dolphins at Xel-Ha. Your house is so nice and Roger, Julia, Elio and Raymundo were excellent. We hope to come back again next year. We have a beach house on Cap. Cod. Mayor, we could trade weeks? my e-mail is soconnor@hvc.rr.com. Great house, great memories! Ad, Rian, Claudia, Sander, Caspar, Jody and Chris July 2008 Hi we are from Holland and we visit your house from 22th of July till 5th of August with our family. We were planning our family holiday and looked for a house with pool on the beach. When we found your photo's on the internet it looks perfect. When we arrived at the airport we were a little skeptical because it seems too good to be truth. But a dream came true when we open the front door, it was even better than the photo's! It was late at night so we didn't see much of the garden and the sea. But at morning when we open the curtains we were again surprised by the spectacular view. We really have a great family holiday, relaxing on the hammocks and the kids in the pool. Also it is well located for nice daytrips on the neighborhood (Xel-Ha, Tulum, Xcaret, Aktun Chen, etc.) We also liked the furniture and arts in the house, we really felt at home here. Two weeks is too short! Roger, Julia and Elio really spoiled us and made sure that all our wishes came true. Greetings! The Downings, Navarros and A. McCrea Chico, CA We are ending our week here in Akumal, just as we are getting used to waking up to the sunrise and the sound of the waves. Akumal was everything we read about and more. We are here with another couple, their 17 year old son and their niece. Some of the highlights of our trip have been the visit to the ruins in Cobá, where we climbed to the top of the pyramid and could see the entire jungle! The ruins at Tulum were beautiful because of the setting, but we all preferred Cobá. We spent one day driving down to the peninsula to Punta Allen, as we bumped along the pothole filled dirt road, we wondered if it would be worth the trip. We were not disappointed. A small sleepy beach village with a real Mexican feel. The ocean there is gorgeous and so quiet - no highway noise. Truly relaxing and great food and margaritas. We heard it was good that we made that trip on a Wednesday since the jeep tours go there on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. A jeep would have made the drive a little less treacherous. Next time (and there WILL be a next time) we will get a car fit for that road. We loved the house, the sunrises, the iguanas, hermit crabs, etc... We ate at Lol-Ha more than once and walked home at night under the moonlight. This has been one of our best vacations ever! The Grenz and Ecker Families Minnesota and S. Dakota This whole week of vacation has been a delight for our entire family. Being Minnesotans and South Dakotans, we cherished every minute we spent in the sun. The access to both the ocean and a pool was particularly appreciated by our 2 little ones (ages 16 and 20 months) one who couldn't get enough of the sand and the waves, and the other who absolutely refused the ocean but loved the pool. Their parents, on the other hand, enjoyed both and spent many hours in the chairs and hammocks near them. But enough about that - onto the house! ;) This is a beautiful place to stay and we are very glad we chose Casa Encantada for our week in Paradise. The multiple levels made napping for the kids much easier and having a bathroom with each bedroom was also appreciated. We also liked having access to a chef, this too made negotiating early bedtimes for the children possible while still allowing for a great meal and relaxing time for the adults - SO NICE! And Chef Ricardo was so patient with our halving Spanish (we know just enough to be a "dangerous" as we joke!) We did some daytrips as well -Xcaret was great fun, and we did some snorkeling in a few lagoons with the Akumal Dive Shop gang. We also went deep sea fishing with them, but has - no dinner! (Ricardo was pretty invaluable that night!) Sad to be going home to snow, but we'll be taking plenty of sunny memories with us! Thanks again. PS Great helpful staff - pass along another thanks to them as well!
